JOB SUMMARY: The Plumber responsibilities include installing, repairing and maintaining pipes, fixtures and other plumbing devices. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned): 1. Completes corrective and preventive work orders as assigned. 2. Provides maintenance, repair and / or replacement of domestic hot and cold water pipes, related fittings and devices. 3. Provides maintenance, repair and / or replacement of steam conveyance infrastructure pipes, related fittings and devices. 4. Provides maintenance, repair and / or replacement of natural gas infrastructure pipes, related fittings and devices. 5. Provides maintenance, repair and / or replacement of storm water / sewer infrastructure pipes, related fittings and devices. 6. Remove obstructions from plumbing. 7. Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, water cooler, kitchen equipment, etc 8. Perform, or manage via a subcontractor, backflow certifications. 9. Executes inspections and repairs when required to buildings fire protection piping and related components. 10. Ability to read and work from prints or schematics. 11. Monitors the performance of Plumbing subcontractors; including conformance to code. 12. Provide excellent customer service. 13. Responds to emergency situations during and after hours. 14. Perform or assist with other general maintenance needs and perform other duties as instructed by supervisor QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and five years experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Some form of documented trade specific education and/or State of Michigan Journeyman License. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees or the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: A Plumbing license (Journeyman Level) and a valid state driver's license. Certified in backflow prevention testing a plus; but not required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. A criminal background check, results of which are not necessarily a bar to employment, and a drug screen are required.
