Our client in the greater Saginaw, MI area, an established manufacturer of automotive components, is currently seeking a Mechatronic Product Applications Engineer to join their team. In this role, the incumbent will be responsible to design, develop and improve new and existing mechatronic systems in conformance to customer specifications. This individual will direct fabrication, conduct build & direct testing of prototypes, analyze design concepts for fit, function, manufacturability and east of assembly, and coordinate engineering activities between the Customer, Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Sales/Marketing and the supply base. + Develop new and innovative products for advancement of company product offerings.
+ Design and/or direct CAD Operators in the design of new products for development cycle only.
+ Direct CAE operators to complete complex analyses for development projects.
+ Complete backup calculations to insure correct CAE results.
+ Verify that designs meet anticipated customer specifications and requirements through analysis and testing.
+ Coordinates the fabrication of prototypes. Assemble prototypes and document builds in conformance with customer/internal requirements.
+ Establish test requirements and procedures, prepare product test plans, direct product testing, review test results and prepare reports.
+ Prepare preliminary engineering cost studies.
+ Assist with preparing design FMEA s for new products when required.
+ Liaison with corporate manufacturing facilities and external suppliers during development phase to insure new designs can be manufactured.
+ Prepares and maintains timing charts for various program phases if project is specific to customer.
+ Participates actively in design review meetings and helps stimulate positive engineering discussion.
+ Acts as a Team Leader for development programs and as a mentor for co-op/summer engineering students. Helps guide and monitor others that are on the team to ensure goals and timings are met.
+ Prepares and participates in formal training and technical presentations for internal personnel.
+ Helps prepare marketing and competitor analysis studies to aid in strategic planning and capital programs.
+ **Bachelors** in **Electrical Engineering** or **Mechanical Engineering** is **Required** ( **mandatory** )
+ **3+ years of professional experience** is preferred, in an Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering field (Applicable Co-op experience can count).
+ Knowledgeable and skilled in **Mechatronics** or **Electromechanical Engineering** ( **mandatory** ).
+ **Powertrain** knowledge preferred.
+ Knowledge and use of **MATLAB Simulink** a significant plus.
+ Knowledge of **Arduino** and **Spice** is strongly preferred.
+ Ability to program in MS Excel
+ Excellent communication skills with ability to effectively communicate across multiple facets of the organization and outside of the organization.
