Job Description Summary: A Orthotist is a specifically trained and quailfed employee that completes orthotic device fittings and set-ups based on physician’s orders. The Orthotist will support the Orthotic division with inventory, addressing physician concerns, receive and fill orders, work with purchasing to order correct bracing and with billing to make sure all documenation is correct. The Orthotist demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation. Responsibilities: Contributes to organization success targets for net operating margin. Responsible with manager to plan and implement strategies to meet and exceed revenue targets. Models Covenant’s Mission, Vision and Values of keeping a commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation. Demonstrates excellent customer service. Work directly with patient and ordering physician’s to get the correct bracing and to ensure patient satisfication. Customizes orthotic braces to the specification of ordering physician. Maintains patients’ records. Repair, rebuild and modify orthopedic appliances. Administers orthotic braces and devices to clients with relativity stable conditions. Fit, test and evaluate devices on patients and make adjustments for proper fit, function and comfort Instructs patient and family members on the proper use and maintenance of devices. Instructs, motivates, and assists clients in learning and improving functional activities. Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: A baccalaureate degree in orthotics and prosthetics, or the foreign equivalent, or Current board certification or board eligible in Prosthetics or Orthotics [i.e. American Board Certified (ABC) or Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC)] required. Minimum of five year of experience in Orthotics. Demonstrated 1-3 years past experience fitting and delivering a variety of non-custom orthotic devices required. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Office and Outlook. Must have working knowledge of the principles and practices of orthotics. Experience and/or training in medical terminology. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated organizational skills. Sound judgment in handling confidential or sensitive issues and material. Ability to use critical thinking to proceed with assigned tasks or situations. Project a positive and energetic image. Ability to initiate and develop new processes as change warrants. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to maintain punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards. Constant lifting 0-10 lbs. Constant twisting, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, near vision, midrange vision, far vision, depth perception, visual accommodation, color vision and field of vision Frequent standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, kneeling, crouching and squatting Occasional lifting 11-50 lbs.
