Responsibilities and Qualifications:

Essential Responsibilities
• Supervise assistant coaches including hiring and termination. Conduct annual reviews and goal setting with assistant coaches. Responsible for selection, development, communication and coordination of coaches’ assignments to ensure consistent application of program training and techniques across all training levels.
• Lead development, planning and implementation of all Dolphin/Barracuda swimming programs.
• Develop seasonal plans, workouts specific to various age groups and coaching placement for all levels.
• Coach and/or oversee all swimmer groups working closely with assistant coaches.
• Develop season meet schedule for approval by the Board. Schedule and attend local and travel team swim meets. Coordinate coaching staff for all swim meets and attend a majority of meets.
• Oversee team management, meet entries, athlete registration and requirements.
• Coordinate swim team practices and work with Community Center Senior Program Director to maximize pool usage effectively.
• Lead, inspire and encourage athletes to maximize their individual performance.
• Oversee swimmers’ goal setting and tracking swimmer/team performance.
• Establish and communicate appropriate goals and progressions to swimmers and parents.
• Advise swimmers of events they should swim at meets and encourage members to swim at their highest level.
• Collaborate with Treasurer and the Board to develop and administer a program budget, assist in fund raising activities, recruit new members, develop program and secure facility for program usage.
• Work with Board of Directors on long-term mission, vision, and strategic planning of the entire swim club.
• Communicate effectively with all staff, the Board, swimmers and parents through newsletter, website updates and emails. Lead parent meetings and attend Board meetings.
• Maintain regular office hours. Be willing to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings and weekends.

Other Responsibilities
• Oversee all aspects of daily club operations in support of team goals and objectives. Strong organizational skills are a must.
• Communicate timely with other teams regarding meet participation and entries.
• Perform administrative functions such as site scheduling for practices and participate in scheduled Board meetings, keeping members informed of team operations and performance.
• Act as team representative while attending LSC meetings i.e., MTSL.
• Assist with college recruitment process for applicable swimmers.
• Maintain accurate records of individual and relay performances, meet participation, practice attendance and more.
• Follow and enforce Board policies and procedures. Maintain professional standard of safety, appearance, and readiness.
• Ensure all coaching staff have required training and certification. Manages coaching staff hours and expense sheets.

• Must be a Coaching member in good standing with USA Swimming and current on all certifications including athlete protection, First Aid, Lifeguard, CPR/AED, Swim Safety for Swim Coach, etc.
• Bachelor’s degree in health, recreation education or a related field recommended.
• ASCA Level 2 or higher certification. Minimum 5-7 years progressive coaching experience with history of leading both novice and high-level age group swimmers in a competitive environment.
• Strong track record as technical swim coach with strong knowledge of stroke technique, dryland progressions, and taper strategies for a range of swimmer ages and abilities.
• Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate and work with other coaches, the Board, Community Center Senior Program Director, parents and swimmers and must be a strong advocate for the sport of competitive swimming.
• Strong core values and serve as a positive role model for young athletes.
• Proficient computer skills and effective knowledge of Team Unify, Hy-Tek Team Manager, Meet Manager and Microsoft applications (Word, Excel).
