Title: HFC Analyst Location: US-Michigan-BAY CITY Other Locations: null Job Summary Under minimal supervision, responsible for proactive and reactive network monitoring of HFC Network. Responsible for performing basic network operations functions such as monitoring information on all sites and back haul, analyzing various network monitoring reports, and identifying deterioration of components in the system. Essential Functions of the position Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience Analyze existing reports from network monitoring tools Identifies nodes that are not within specification and determine if demand or preventative maintenance is needed Track and update problems in the trouble ticketing system in a clear and efficient manner Monitor service levels and take appropriate action to maintain service level agreements Identify potential problem areas and take corrective action to implement short-term adjustments and refer chronic problems to Engineering for permanent resolution Collect and consolidate network performance-related forms, checklists and certifications Maintain an awareness of network activities affecting service on enterprise and local level Identifies alarm correlations and appropriate response actions for future automation Provide escalation and status notification throughout the enterprise on service impacting events Provide timely and accurate reports for analysis of the plant and Network Monitoring System Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable Know, understand and follow company policy Perform other duties as requested by supervisor Preferred Qualifications Ability to reach with hands and arms, to bend, to talk and hear, and to read and use a computer Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure Ability to use personal computer and software applications (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, etc.). Ability to work with others to resolve problems, handle requests or situations Ability to work independently Ability to utilize tools used for monitoring the network, including Remedy, HP, Open View Cisco Works, Micromuse, Netcool, AM Omni 2000, Cisco Cable Manager, etc. Knowledge of company products and services Knowledge of network configuration and reporting Strong knowledge of NT and UNIX workstations Knowledge of Microsoft Office Strong analytical and mathematics skills Education Associates or Bachelors degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience Industry and vendor specific certifications and training preferred Related Work Experience Network troubleshooting and surveillance experience preferred Experience with HFC Networks, Digital Video Certifications and/or Licenses HP OpenView, Cisco Products, Remedy WORKING CONDITIONS On-call duty may be required, due to work in a 24x7, fast paced environment
